In fact, more such authentic ahadith are there that strongly favor hijama as a cure and preventive measure against diseases. When this Sunnah is so much stressed and recommended by the Prophet SAW, there cannot be a single ray of doubt regarding hijama’s effectiveness and benefits in curing diseases if performed properly. At the same time, we do not get any detailed list of diseases in the prophetic guidance, but the practical experiences of countless people and that of the therapists prove hijama’s effectiveness in many diseases, both as having curative and preventive benefits. As this therapy is being done for more medical conditions, it is being noted that hijama is proving helpful in faster recovery and curing more and more diseases.
Some Islamic evidence indicates certain dates of the lunar month, certain days of the week, and certain locations on the body for having their own significance in hijama therapy. However, this point is better discussed with the therapist who can guide according to the treating conditions a patient.
Diseases Commonly Addressed by Hijama
After a closer study on the diseases that can benefit from hijama, we can find many diseases or medical conditions that have benefited greatly after doing cupping on the patients. Let us have a quick look on the diseases that are satisfactorily being addressed by hijama or cupping therapy.
Breathing problem (asthma), cough and common cold, migraine and other headaches, diarrhea and constipation, body pains, nerve pain, stomach ache and heartburn, many skin problems, allergies, infertility, urinary incontinence, menstrual pain or endometriosis, chills at toes and fingers, tonsillitis and other throat problems, stroke, cancer, hypertension and hypotension, angina pectoris, diabetes, memory loss, liver problems, osteoarthritis and gout, piles, hair loss, eye problems such as early cataract, conjunctivitis and myopia, etc.
The above list is just for information and in no way it can be considered complete.
Some Medical Conditions that cannot be Addressed by Hijama
Patients with congenital disorders, genetic diseases or disorders such as cerebral palsy cleft lip, hole in the heart, congenital dislocation of a limb, broken bones, open wounds, trauma, internal bleeding, organ or tissue damage, etc, cannot directly get the benefits of hijama. In such many conditions, doing hijama may not directly affect the condition but can improve the recovery time.
It is also worth noting that people with lack of blood, pregnant women, children below 10 years, and those suffering from life-threatening conditions due to some disease, should avoid hijama therapy unless done under strict medical supervision, or can undergo cupping after a thorough consultation of their doctor.
