Mission
Muzlimbuzz is an e-magazine that caters to the modern, active, socially-engaged and spiritual Muslim. We aim to document and articulate the Muslim experience, particularly of those in Singapore and in the region.
Apart from News and opinion pieces, we have daily columns that cover a wide array of topics from Health to Marriage, Spirituality to Technology, Travel & Photo Essays. In a nutshell, there’s bound to be something that would interest you here at Muzlimbuzz.
Our Tagline: Passion. Pulse. Soul.
Passion: Far be it from the ‘apathetic’ Singaporean stereotype, Muzlimbuzz oozes passion in what we do and will actively respond to issues that affect us. Something horrid happens and we shrug our shoulders and say “As Allah wills” even though there was something in our capacity to do so? Not us. Pulse: In order to be relevant and constantly in the loop, we attempt to detect the pulse of the society and catch it at its every throb and hum. We invite you to be our eyes & ears. Soul: As we display facts, put forth arguments and appeal to your intellect, Muzlimbuzz wants to gratify your soul too. The fluidity & compatibility of the spirit to changing trends and conditions sets it apart from the rigidity that can be traced in certain “Islamic” ideologies. Here at Muzlimbuzz, insyaAllah you’ll find both brains and spiritual beauty.
Vision
We want to tell your stories, stories that Muslims won’t get to read in the mainstream media. We want to ask questions. We want to help create a community of inquisitive minds, those who ask incisive questions, those who read widely and will not say no to another point of view. We want to live a balanced life. Our writers don’t just sit in the mosques and meditate all day. They are out there, watching plays or movies, listening to music, reading books, playing sports and living just like any regular person. The difference is that we do all these and experience all our moments through a Muslim lens, which you can detect from our writings insyaAllah.
