[divider]To speak words of kindness, He created a tongue.
To reach out to the less fortunate, He created hands.
To hear good things, He created a pair of ears.
To stand for Salah, He created legs.
To read the Qur’an, He created eyes.
He with the beautiful name: Al Khaliq, The Creator.
As I scan every single thing from left to right, from my back to my front, I assembled that all of it is a creation of Allah SWT. On top of all that I see, He created me.
Wanderlust, I may call myself. Across Uganda I imagine climbing Mount Baker, in the streets of Rome do I see myself with The Pantheon and in the bohemian land of Byron Bay, I see myself snorkeling.
And then, once upon a dancer, I was obsessed with beauty. Explore my make-up kit and you will see water shine glosses, lip liners, palettes of eye kits, shades of matte red lipstick and eyebrow pencils.
When complimented, “Thank You, it must be the brand of the makeup,” she said.
What I failed to realise is that the beauty of the places I wish to sail to and the external beauty I thought was true, is a creation of my Creator, created to me, His Creation as a tool to create tests.
Imagine being an Art Teacher, and creating a unique and beautiful abstract. It is so perfect in your eyes that you just want your students to compliment the design. One day, your student tells you that it lacks colour, takes paint and adjusts it according to his liking. You are so mad, but the rest of the students tell him that it’s not a problem.
Imagine this happening to The Creator, to our Creator. For beauty, changing the look of the eyebrows seemed acceptable and so we proceed to adjust it to our liking, but we did not realise that we are defying the best of all Creator. Look at it from a different angle and realise that it is the same as saying, “Ya Allah, I can do better than You.” Audhu billah.
He then created a heart for us to love Him, but we use our heart to love Dunya. This same Dunya that He created for amusement is the place we love so much – we physically sweat and save our earnings to travel but did not spiritually save for what is bound to come.
And for what is bound to come, Allah SWT created Jannah.
Look around again, for us to get to Jannah, He created countless means. He created parents for us to be kind to, He created the Qur’an for us to read and He created mosques for us to prostrate in. All we have to do is have faith and look beyond.
I opened my eyes and thought deeper about how much all of us have taken what He created for us for granted.
For the tongue, we use it to backbite.
For the hands, we use it to steal.
For the ears, we use it for inappropriate music.
For the legs, we did not stand up for Salah.
For the eyes, we look at what bad people do and talk about it.
“But verily, thy Lord is full of grace to mankind: Yet most of them are ungrateful.” [Qur’an 27:23]
It’s time for us to be grateful to our Creator, Allah Al Khaliq, for all that we have. Allah SWT is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
