Having the Best & Worst of Motherhood
I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t socialize, couldn’t watch my favorite program on TV, couldn’t go out to shop freely, couldn’t go to a local store for grocery accept for buying a pack of pampers, couldn’t go the bathroom without the door closed, couldn’t find time to lose the baby fat.
But
I would wake up in the middle of the night to feed the baby, rock him all night, bore his whining, washed his clothes, wiped his dirt, kept him clean, nursed him when he was sick, played with him at any time of the day, made the funniest and weirdest noises and faces just to make him smile, carried him around while shopping, never bought anything for myself without buying something for him first, control my baby blues and do things that I can’t remember right now.
This was the first year of my little one and some of these actions are still going on.
Its really hard to understand when people say that motherhood is a blessing, true a blessing in disguise that you only realize after you become one. Some would consider children a very big responsibility that should not be invited without proper finances and preparation. This concern is not wrong because children are a big responsibility and this thought can be intimidating for many.
For mothers this is a total change of lifestyle not only posing less time for themselves but also a hindrance for many in their career advancement. Its thought-provoking that why mothers would sacrifice so much for their children to get nothing in return. To understand this, the relationship is to be understood.
A mother-to-be might be hating the experience of the hardships of the nine months it takes to have a baby but the blessings of Allah SWT are such that a mother-to-be’s heart is filled with so much love for her child the moment she has the first look. Though the hardships continue and the mother keeps loving and hating the experience but it’s the purpose and meaning children provide in a relationship that we mothers keep bearing everything our children do to our lives.
There are times when children can be extremely annoying. They would grab you wherever you go without letting you bargain, shop or even take your meal. But since they are our children we have to, simply have to, keep up with their cranks. Do we have a choice?
There is something that keeps us mothers going on even when our children become little devils. The unimaginable things they say and do are just like memories that you might not enjoy at that time but when you think of it after some time all you can do is laugh. I would not deny the fact that the funny things they do are sure to be written in a book to remember and share with the world. They can create some of the funniest jokes and actions that bring out more love in the mother’s heart and pride for having the wonderful little devils as kids.

Allah SWT has filled their hearts with all kinds of emotions that only come out when they are experiencing children. So we might be technically dissatisfied, socially aloof and on top of our blood pressure levels with them but motherhood is a blessing that you would be lucky to have and that Allah SWT has given a stature much more than that of a father.
“A man came to the Prophet and said: O Messenger of Allah! Who from amongst mankind warrants the best companionship from me? He replied: “Your mother.” The man asked: Then who? So he replied: “Your mother.” The man then asked: Then who? So the Prophet replied again: “Your mother.” The man then asked: Then who? So he replied: “Then your father.” (Bukhari,Muslim)
